A small liberal arts college near downtown. Students living on campus make requests through the college.
Converse University
A historic campus on the east side of downtown. Ask its student services staff about the timeline for animals in housing.
USC Upstate
The largest of the three. Many of its students rent apartments off campus, and those leases follow the state Fair Housing Law.

South Carolina accepts documentation that answers the two statutory questions. A strong letter usually shows:
- The clinician's name, license type, license number and contact details.
- That you have a disability that substantially limits a major life activity.
- That the animal helps with a need connected to that disability.
- A date and the clinician's signature.
A certificate, ID card or registry number does not answer either question.

No. The letter can come from any health care professional licensed in South Carolina who knows your condition, including one who evaluates you by telehealth. What matters is that the documentation confirms a disability and a disability-related need for the animal.
